Tea Break

Tetley tea is not a brand that I drink much anymore, but it was my favorite tea for many years when I lived in Toronto.  Everyone knew the Tetley Tea Folk and the commercial jingle.

I grew up making pots of hot tea with the little round teabags.  Brewing loose tea was something that would come much later, as my appreciation for tea developed.  My parents were both coffee drinkers, so my tea was enjoyed solo or during visits with my best friend Louise.

Joseph Tetley & Co. was founded in 1837 in the United Kingdom.  Tetley is now a subsidiary of Tata Tea – the world’s second largest manufacturer and distributor of tea.    It is the second largest in the United States.  I think most of the Tetley Tea here in the South is blended for brewing iced tea.

Interesting facts about Tetley -- I've bought some but it is not one of my "have to haves"

I love your Tetley teapot! Do you know if that is old or new? Fun post!

Angela, I know the teapot was only available in Canada, so I must have acquired it over 15 years ago. Tetley does promotions where you collect UPC's and send them in to purchase collectibles. They are now offering a pretty solid blue logo pot called Vintage Blue.

I really like the new one and may see if my brother can get me one.

Thanks for your recent comments on my blog. I see that you are in Georgia, so I'm sure you have an abundance of tea rooms to frequent. We had a nice tea room in Montgomery that I enjoyed, but it is gone now. So I'm on the lookout for new tea places in my area.

Hello! Thank you for your visit to my blog and I am so glad to have discovered yours! I grew up with tetley iced tea and then developed a taste for hot tea in my early 20s. Currently we make our house iced tea with Luzianne family size. Just by force of habit.

Hi again. I have beenhaving a wonderful time rading all your posts about tea! I grew up in Toronto and Tetley was our favorite brand. I was there this summer and brought back three large boxes of it and some Peak Frean cookies. The white Wedgewwod teacup and the palte in a previous post remind me of my childhood. The pattern is Conway which is what we had. Thanks for the memories. ((hugs)) Rhondi
