Tearoom Scrapbook

Recently, I had the rare opportunity to spend a few days alone.  I enjoyed many things during that time.  One of them was completing a few pages for my Tearoom Scrapbook.  Two of the pages were about first time visits.  My younger daughter had her first tearoom experience at Miss Bessie’s Tearoom in Barnesville, GA.  We had a lovely time, and she liked her Apple tea so much that she purchased some to take home.  She is becoming more of a tea lover as time goes on.  It is such fun to find gifts of teapots, cups and assorted teas for her.

I also made a page about my Grandson’s first tearoom visit at Tea At Seven Springs.  He thought it was pretty neat.  They do a special tray for children and it had all his favorites.  He had lemonade instead of tea and flower shaped PB&J sandwiches.  This tearoom had some of the best scones I’ve ever eaten.  See a picture of their almond scone above in the blog title.

It is difficult to find many tea specific products for scrapbooking, but they are out there.  I have lots of tea stamps and punches.  Papers and stickers are a little harder to find.  It’s fun searching for tea scrapbooking supplies and tea themed fabrics wherever I go.

Tea Cocktail Anyone?

Isn’t it amazing how many new tea products are showing up these days.  Now if I were a drinking man, or rather, drinking woman, I’d definitely be trying this product.  It is a green tea liqueur called Zen.  You can find it at www.zenliqueur.com.  I don’t know what it tastes like, but it sure looks pretty.  Here’s a recipe for a cocktail that contains 2 parts Zen, 2 parts vodka and 1/2 part fresh orange juice.  Sounds yummy and potent.  Lately I have been seeing marteanis shown as the new trendy night out drink.  Or for those who like to diy, there is tea-infused vodka.  Just pour a liter of vodka into a pitcher and add 1/2 cup loose tea.  Let it steep for 30 minutes and pour through a paper filter.  Now you’re ready to make a marteani.

Chinese TeapotHow about an oriental theme evening high tea?  I can picture bamboo placemats, tetsubin teapots and lots of delicious brewed green tea.  Now, I think it’s time to go investigate the sparkling tea that has recently come on the market.

This isn't my usual teatime experience, but it was quite enjoyable just the same. Instead of my favorite hot black tea, I'm drinking bubble tea. You can see the large tapioca pearls in the bottom of the cup. It is great fun to coax them up the extra large straws that have slant cut bottoms designed for this purpose. I've heard that bubble tea or boba originated in Taiwan in the early 1980's. It comes in many delicious fruit flavours and can be made with black or green tea.

There are no dainty sandwiches or scones with lemon curd, but there is a hearty and delicious noodle bowl. Mine came with a large piece of chicken, but it is also available with beef. It is served with bean sprouts, lemongrass, fresh basil and chilies. I had this great combination of food and drink at "Pho Mimi" Vietnamese Noodle House in Duluth, GA.
