Tea on the Veranda

Last weekend the Atlanta Scarlett Hatters enjoyed a “tea on the veranda” meeting at the gorgeous home of member Betty.  The enormous residence was once mistaken for a hotel by a couple of tourists.  They were relaxing on the veranda when the owner noticed them from the garden.  He asked the ladies who they were and where did they think they were.  I can only imagine how embarrassed they must have been – thank goodness they hadn’t tried to check in yet.

Everything was arranged beautifully on several areas of the veranda.  There was a table for pink lemonade (lots of crushed ice, of course) and pretty glass goblets.

The floral arrangements were all created by the hubby of our hostess.

There were lots of pretty teacups, which we admired but didn’t have the pleasure of sipping tea from.  The ladies thought that it was just too hot for hot tea.

Everyone enjoyed a selection of delicious tea sandwiches and a variety of yummy desserts.

Ruth passed the crown to a new Queen Mum, ending her eight year reign.  She tearfully told us how the group had blessed her life. Several other members talked about what the Atlanta Scarlett Hatters has meant to them.  I guess the most important thing to know about being a Red (or pink) Hatter is that they are all about fun and friendship.

  1. That shot of the veranda ... W-O-W! Can definitely see why those ladies made the mistake they did! Your Red Hat group sounds like a fun bunch, and what a lovely tea you all enjoyed. Sending prayers to your sweet friend Ruth!

  3. I can see where someone might think the veranda is part of a hotel. It is beautiful. I can only imagine from the beautiful bouquet that the garden was gorgeous. Tea on the veranda with special friends would be so delightful.
