While leafing through Your Good House, a supplement to Good Housekeeping magazine, I came across this teapot in their shopping guide. I like both the colors and design and better yet, how the purchase of this teapot can provide staple food for the hungry.
The Hunger Site was founded to meet a specific humanitarian need: the eradication of world hunger.
As I was leaving my subdivision on Saturday to do some errands, I spotted a yard sale sign. I thought, why not check it out. I’m glad I did because I found a couple of tea theme items, as well as a lovely Princess crystal footed bowl, Charles Swindoll book, feather shaped brooch, shells, etc.
The box said they were by Michael Alan Designs, A Division of Intercontinental Art, Inc and the tag was from Garden Ridge.
These will probably be used to adorn a wall in my sunroom. There was also a cute little stick pin that was made by Avon.
Another great item I snapped up was a black metal three tier stand that can hold dinner size plates, or even larger platters. It will come in handy for those large tea parties or holiday entertaining.
Now for the best part – all these items cost me under $10.
My eldest brother and sister-in-law remembered that I drank Tetley Tea every day when I lived in Canada. When they drove down for our 30th anniversary party they brought me a huge box of Tetley Tea.
The company introduced a new product in Canada that I would really like to try. It’s called Tetley Infusions and is a liquid tea mix. They say “It’s tea, reimagined.” It dissolves instantly in water and has all the pure and natural benefits of tea in individual serving packets.

The popularity of this Southern cook has really taken off in the last few years. I have purchased her magazines and watched her two television shows, and now I have added a Paula Deen teapot to my collection. A friend was kind enough to include this special gift (just for me) with their gift card.
We received several restaurant gift cards, which is a real treat for us since we don’t eat out often. We were also gifted with some nice picture frames.
This couple knew that the 30th anniversary is pearl. The frame has pretty pearl and diamond accents on the corners.
Of course I lifted a cup of London Cuppa at the party with some of my lovely Red Hat friends.
What fun! Now I’ll have to wait ten years for the big ruby anniversary celebration, or maybe I should just celebrate every year married as the special milestone it is.
I have been working on a couple of simple paper crafts for a ladies day at church. I’m planning on a couple of items that can be made in an hour or less.
These little folders are easy to make and can be customized to hold a tea bag or a gift card.
I also want to make a full size Christmas card that will be easy to put together from the kits I’ll make up. At least I have another month to work on ideas for these projects.
My younger daughter blessed us with an anniversary party this past Saturday. Over thirty people came by her home to celebrate with us. She did a wonderful job with the food and party decorations – everyone enjoyed themselves.
Most people know that 25 years is the silver anniversary and 50 years is the golden anniversary. The thirtieth anniversary is pearls and I’m wearing several faux strands that were part of the party theme, along with lots of pearlized balloons, streamers, confetti, etc.
Although the party itself was not a surprise, Cynthia did manage to arrange one for us. The night before the party I answered the door to find two of my brothers and my sister-in-law who had driven all the way from Canada to celebrate with us (a two day drive). It had been two years since I’d seen my eldest brother and his wife and over eight years for my middle brother. What a fantastic surprise! Sadly they had to leave on Sunday morning.
I’m so proud of Cynthia. She managed to put this party together while working full time and going to school nights and weekends to get her four year degree. Each time I offered to help with the preparations, she said that it was her gift and she wanted to do it herself. All you moms know how hard it is to just stand back and observe.
I will treasure these special memories always.
American sales of chai jumped $46 million between 1999 and 2002 and I can see why. A hot cup of chai is a wonderful warming drink for fall. There are many recipes each containing some mix of milk, black tea, and spices such as cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, pepper, and ginger.
One of my favorite tea books is Tea Party by Tracy Stern.
There are 20 themed tea parties, with lots of recipes and tips on decorating, party favors, etc. I have made the chai tea with milk and honey and the granola recipes from the Chai Breakfast section many times.
It is fun to try different chai recipes, but if you don’t want to make your own there are plenty of options. You can buy chai spice loose tea and tea bags from companies such as Adagio, or premixed chai in cartons from companies like Oregon Chai.
